	Organic chemistry I involves 2 part: theory and practical experiment. The theory provides the student with the necessary background to understand the chemistry of carbon-containing compounds. Topics include electronic effects, isomerization, stereochemistry, and spectroscopy; they also provide knowledge on the structure, nomenclature, properties, preparation methods, and applications... of important groups of organic compounds (hydrocarbons, alkyl halides, alcohols, ethers, carbonyl compounds). Laboratory experiments reinforce the basic principles discussed in lecture as well as provide practical examples. Practical part of Organic Chemistry I provides learners with some skills to conduct qualitative experiments on some basic organic functional groups.
