The senior delegation of Ha Noi University of Pharmacy paid a working visit to Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy of Taiwan.

Receiving the invitation of the Taipei Medical University (TMU) and China Medical University (CMU), from October 27 to December 29, 2016, a senior delegation of Ha Noi University of Pharmacy paid a working visit toCMU and TMU in Taiwan.

TMU is one of the top private university in Taiwan. TMU has nearly 60 year history in the field of pharmacist training. Training clinical pharmacists / hospital pharmacy with the model 4 + 2 and Pharm D program, TMU is currently a quite interesting destination for students of the pharmacist training universities in the region. In the time staying in Taipei, both sides discussed and had plans to implement the dual degree (double or triple degree) training programs with the participation of the Ha Noi University of Pharmacy (HUP), TMU and 01 university from the United States.
CMU is one of the top universities in the region and the world, especially for cancer treatment with the combination of Chinese medicine and Western medicine. CMU has a series of practical training hospitals, centers for treating cancer and high technology research centers, particularly new drug research development with the clinical trial at Phase 3. The pharmacist training program still lasts five years in which practical training in the field of hospital pharmacy, community pharmacy and biology technology are the remarkable advantages of the CMU. After the working visit, both parties committed to: (1) Collaborate in organizing the scientific conference/meeting between research groups of TMU, CMU and HUP in 2017 in Hanoi; (2) Collaborate to act as co-supervisor for master and doctoral candidates; (3) CMU and TMU to be willing to provide scholarships for HUP postgraduate students. Based on the students’ abilities, the different rate of scholarships will be provided (4) All parties will exchange information and together submit proposals for research projects under bilateral protocol of two countries; (5) Hanoi University of Pharmacy will find out how to deploy the double degree program at the phase 1 with degree provided by TMU and 1 University of the United States; (6) Hanoi University of Pharmacy will find out the best way to cooperate with the TMU in implementing program 5 + 1: HUP students after graduation, if theywish, they can attend further education for 1 years in TMU on clinical / hospital pharmacy in order to receive Pharm D of TMU - Taiwan.
During the working visit, the delegation also had the opportunity to meet and learn about HUP students’ life and learning environment who are currently studying at TMU after graduating from HUP. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Dang Hoa - Rector encouraged and urged them to make contribution and participate in the HUP lecturers / researchers team after graduating and returning Vietnam.
