Improving the quality of Clinical Pharmacists training in our country

Hanoi University of Pharmacy in collaboration with five schools benefiting from the project, organized the workshop on the project "Improving the quality of training of clinical pharmacists in Vietnam" to meet the urgent requirements of drug use with safety, rationality and effectiveness of the Community.

Attending the seminar were Ass. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien, Vice Minister of Health with representatives from international organizations: the Dutch Embassy, ​​WHO, representatives of universities from the Netherlands, Thailand, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training representatives of various departments, the scientists of the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, institutes, hospitals, professional associations of the health sector in Vietnam.
According to Ass. Prof Dr. Nguyen Dang Hoa - Vice Rector in charge of Administrative and Management, Hanoi University of Pharmacy: Currently in the region and the world, the role of pharmacists changes quickly to meet the requirements of modern health care. Pharmacists are now required as community specialists in medicine - clinical pharmacy specialists, are responsible for guiding and counseling on safe, reasonable, effective drug use not only for patients, community but also for the physicians. "Clinical Pharmacology" is formed to train pharmaceutical human resources to better meet the requirements of modern society in health care. The pharmacists working in clinic are in the implementation of advisory role for the physicians, in help to optimize the treatment regimen, as well as performing the role of giving information and guiding rational safe drug use for health workers and patients.
The project "Improving the quality of training of clinical pharmacists in Vietnam to meet the urgent requirements of drug use with safety, rationality and effectiveness of the Community" is sponsored by the program for education and training after school with a total budget of 2.2 million Euro. After 4 years of implementation (2008-2012), the project has brought to the training schools of Pharmacy in Vietnam: A framework for training pharmacists, clinical pharmacists updated and modern environment and a modern learning facilities, helping to train the well qualified teaching staff, training a large number of officials in the Netherlands, Thailand and Vietnam with the following contents: Masters, doctoral, short-term training on advanced teaching methods, analysis based on clinical evidence and medical training management, building the toolkit to assess training quality; A system database of drug information of clinics is designed to support the training of clinical pharmacists.
Speaking at the seminar, Ass. Prof Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien- Deputy Minister of Health of Vietnam has appreciated the value of project , the top concern of Vietnam, he said: Recognizing the importance of the pharmacy work for the protection and  health care , the Vietnam Government has built "Pharmaceutical Development Strategy to 2020 period" and "National Drug Policy of Vietnam." In the policy and  strategy, safe and reasonable drug use  is always considered a priority target, and training  pharmaceutical human resources, particularly training pharmaceutical students in consulting safe, reasonable ,effective drug use ,which has always been considered a measure strategic and urgent.
The workshop has brought to the school and the management of Vietnam a new approach, an overall view of the all sided educational program; an environment and modern teaching facilities ... Concluding the workshop, all participants agreed that the "Links and cooperation is the guiding principle for the sustainable development of a update comprehensive training system .".
