CKD Kochon Scholarship Award Ceremony at Hanoi University of Pharmacy
On the morning of October 10th, 2024, Hanoi University of Pharmacy (HUP), in collaboration with the CKD Kochon Scholarship Foundation, sponsored by Chong Kun Dang (CKD) Pharmaceutical Corporation, hosted a ceremony to award scholarships to 10 exceptional students facing financial challenges for the academic year 2024-2025.
The ceremony saw the participation of prominent representatives from CKD, including Mr. Choi Jung-Gil, Executive Director; Mr. Gong Jang Min, Team Manager; Mr. BuSung Ji, Chief of the Representative Office in Vietnam; and Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Huyen, Regulatory Affairs Manager at the Vietnam Office. From HUP, key attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Hai, Vice Rector; MA. Dinh Thi Hien Van, Deputy Head of Department of Science Technology and Development Cooperation; MSc. Tran Thi Lan Huong, Deputy Head of Department of Academic Affairs; along withother esteemed faculty members and specialists.
Established in 1973 by the late Chairman Chong Kun-Lee, the CKD Kochon Scholarship Program has supported thousands of students over the past 51 years. Since its establishment in 1941, CKD has grown into one of Korea’s leading pharmaceutical companies, renowned for its development of innovative drugs, including treatments for cancer, diabetes, and obesity, thereby solidifying its position as a global leader in the pharmaceutical industry.
The CKD Scholarship Program at HUP offers:
- Full scholarships covering annual tuition fees, with the opportunity for recipients to renew the scholarship each year until graduation, provided they maintain a minimum GPA as stipulated in the Sponsorship Agreement between HUP and the CKD Kochon Scholarship Fund.
- A chance for scholarship recipients to participate in CKD’s International Student Summer Program in Korea, which is organized annually for students from partner institutions worldwide.
During the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Hai expressed the university's heartfelt appreciation for CKD’s support and congratulated the 10 scholarship recipients. Mr. Choi Jung-Gil, Executive Director of the CKD Scholarship Fund, also delivered a speech, expressing his gratitude toHUP for their collaboration. A video presentation followed, highlighting the CKD Foundation's history, its scholarship programs, past scholarship recipients’ visits to CKD headquarters, and an introduction to Korean culture. This gave students a deeper insight into the foundation's impact and the unique opportunities it offers.
On behalf of the scholarship recipients, student Ho Tue Tam expressed their sincere gratitude to the CKD Kochon Scholarship Fund for alleviating their financial burdens, enabling them to concentrate on their studies and strive for academic success.
The ceremony concluded with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Hai reiterating her deep thanks to CKD and expressing hope for continued collaboration between the university and the CKD Kochon Scholarship Foundation in the years to come.
