The Senior Delegation from the Hanoi University of Pharmacy has participated in  the 2nd International Conference on the Development of Pharmacy Schools in Nanjing, China.

Receiving the invitation from Prof. Haiping Hao, President of China Pharmaceutical University (CPU), and with the approval of the Ministry of Health and the Party Committee of the Hanoi University of Pharmacy, from October 11th to 14th, 2023, the senior delegation from the Hanoi University of Pharmacy, led by Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hai Nam, HUP's Rector visited and participated in the 2nd International Conference on the development of pharmacy schools in Nanjing, China.

The primary objective of the conference was to promote cooperation and the global-scale development of pharmaceutical education, particularly in a period where the pharmaceutical field faces unprecedented challenges post the Covid-19 pandemic. The forum aimed to foster a coalition among institutions to establish a global alliance for the advancement of pharmaceutical science, with participation from universities representing 41 countries worldwide.

The conference witnessed the attendance of numerous institutions from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Malaysia, Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, France, as well as pharmaceutical companies from China. Notably, the conference was honored by the presence and witness of the Mayor of Nanjing City and the Vice Minister of Education, China.

During the conference, participants shared insights on pharmaceutical training and practices across countries, the application of technology in education, scientific research, and collaboration among enterprises, research institutes, and universities in scientific and technological activities. They also discussed and proposed solutions to various challenges. Besides the conference sessions, business tours, visits to China Pharmaceutical University, and bilateral meetings were organized.

At this multilateral and bilateral conference, Professor Nguyen Hai Nam, Rector, expressed the Hanoi University of Pharmacy's alignment in participating in conferences held by the Global Alliance for the Development of Pharmaceutical Science. They also agreed to extend the Framework Cooperation Agreement between the two universities as a foundation for extensive collaboration with China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, in the upcoming period. Some priorities of the Hanoi University of Pharmacy in the multilateral cooperation at the Alliance and the bilateral cooperation with China Pharmaceutical University include: (i) enhancing collaborative training programs; (ii) increasing student exchange, prioritizing exchanges for a minimum of one semester; (iii) reinforcing faculty and staff exchanges in training, research, and university administration; (iv) strengthening research collaboration: coordinating joint research projects, co-supervising students, and co-publishing international papers.

The conference contributed significantly to the exchange of innovative ideas, sharing of methodologies, solutions, and exploring potential collaborative relationships among pharmacy schools worldwide. At the conclusion of the visit, on behalf of the delegation, Professor Nguyen Hai Nam and the representative from CPU made strong commitments to foster extensive bilateral cooperation between the two universities in educational integration and scientific research.
